Why you'll love this jobThe position is responsible for managing the day-to-day employee accommodations across all American Airlines organizations. This job supports the administration of People policies, procedures, and programs.This position is a member of the Accommodations team within the People Division.What you'll doManages team member accommodations based on disability, religion, and pregnancyServe as the single point of contact for a team member throughout their accommodation requestConducts thorough review of information as it relates to the team member's ability to perform essential job functionsCommunicates with the team member and leadership team to explore accommodation options to properly disposition the team member’s request in a fair/equitable and legal mannerThoroughly documents the interactive process, ensuring proper forms are completed, and retained in the case notesExplains and interprets company and governmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for the team member and their leader which includes ability to explain any aspect of Absence Management policies and proceduresWorks with accommodations adjacent absence management teams to provide options to team members and leaders when an accommodation is not appropriateServes as an advocate for the team memberPartners with: Internal and external legal counsel and labor when appropriateOutside vendors to facilitate possible accommodationsCommunicates with medical professionals regarding confidential medical information, related to the team member’s accommodation requestRepresent the Accommodations, Absence Management, and People Teams on various projects and committeesPartners with the business to provide continuing education and guidance on the accommodations processManage caseload independently and efficiently from initial creation to case disposition, with minimal supervisionAll you'll need for successMinimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience/training 5 years of human resources experience 3 years supervisory experienceMinimum 1 year experience handling accommodation related requestsAdvanced knowledge of municipal, state, and federal employment laws including, but not limited to: American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Pregnant Worker’s Fairness Act (PWFA), Title VII and comparable state/local lawsPreferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job ExperienceADA CertificationCLMS CertificationMasters in human resources, Business, or relevant fieldPrior experience with represented team members/unionsFrontline leadership experiencePrevious experience in Absence TrackerProficiency with Excel, data analytics, and automation to create and manage reporting metricsSkills, Licenses & CertificationsKnowledge of all MS Office productsStrong initiative, solid judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsIndependent workerExcellent project management skillsAbility to handle sensitive/confidential/HIPAA information as legally appropriateAbility to handle multiple priorities effectivelyBuild and maintain synergetic relationships with adjacent partners and leadersAbility to travel 25%What you'll getFeel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
