*CCWH - Reallocation for a Collections and Guest Services Specialist*

Collections and Guest Services Specialist works with the Center for Colorado Women’s History team on coordination of collection management, guest services, volunteer training and operational systems provided by the museum regional property. The coordinator ensures guest services goals are met while supporting sustainable facility operations and income-generating activities. Responsibilities Assess and communicate CCWH collections needs and serve as liaison between Community Museums and Curatorial Services & Collections Access Collaborate with community museum staff and Curatorial Services; Collections Access teams to troubleshoot, plan and address community museum collections needs in accordance with the institution's mission and best practice standards Plan and implement collections projects at CCWH which could include database entry, inventories, conservation, collection rotations, storage and retrieval, movement, etc. Coordinate and complete incoming and outgoing collections activities, as necessary, with Collections staff and collections storage locations in Denver Oversee community museum exhibit-related loans in accordance with the institution's mission and best practice standards Collaborate with Curatorial and Collections staff to research and support collections-related exhibit development Guest Services Schedule and conduct tours Explain historical information and site interpretations and answer questions from visitors Collect admissions fees, sell merchandise and keep records of the number of visitors Use non-escalation and de-escalation techniques when working with external and internal stakeholders Train, schedule and evaluate the work of volunteers Assist with special projects and events as assigned Other duties as assigned Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills Four (4) years of full-time professional experience focused on collection of historic materials, evaluating, systemizing, preserving and making available for reference records, documents and objects of historical significance. Part-time experience will be pro-rated Education and Experience BA degree from an accredited institution in History, Museum Studies, Archeology, Women's Studies or another relevant field. Each year of education counts toward required experience Preferred Qualifications Strong background in history with general knowledge of Colorado history Background in Argus collections database management Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to juggle multiple project schedules Experience and confidence in providing historic tours Experience training volunteers Basic research abilities Enthusiasm to explore ideas, amplify diverse voices and help others discover what makes Colorado Colorado Relevant experience working for the State of Colorado Conditions of Employment Position may require work outside regular business hours Must be available to work a Thursday through Monday schedule Competencies Clear understanding and experience in collections management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Project management skills: ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, create systems and processes, and collaborate with and engage others Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities and react and adjust quickly to changing conditions Detail oriented Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally with diverse communities across the state Work well under pressure Strong relationship management skills and excellent representation of the department in community interactions Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently Factors to be Evaluated Technical competence – Technical experience as it relates to the duties outlined in this job announcement Depth and breadth of experience – Experience that covers multiple areas outlined in this job announcement.
