Staff G/L Accountant

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the monthly general ledger close process, ensuring that the process provides timely and accurate financial reporting Perform certain areas of the monthly close (prepares journal entries and reconciliations) Prepare account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and account analysis to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger accounts, bank balances, etc. Prepare audit schedules for external auditors Prepare quarterly and year-end GAAP financials and stand-alone financials Responsible for assuring that all required journals are posted during the monthly close cycle by maintaining and updating month-end close checklist Assist with management reporting and ad hoc reporting as required Assist with compliance with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures and reporting requirements Assist with internal audit in-house internal controls testing, as needed Work with other team members to resolve reconciliation discrepancies Collaborate with other departments to ensure business transactions have been properly recorded Understand the various accounting systems used and evaluate and recommend changes for performance, efficiency, and growth; drive process improvements and system automation Other Special projects and troubleshooting targets as identified and required by the Accounting Manager. Responsible for preparing schedules for related party subsidiaries and detailed interaction with external auditors. Work with the department and other departments to streamline, automate and enhance various reports and business processes. Responsible for training consultants and temporary staff as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge and Skills Ability to perform month-end fluctuation analysis Be a strong team player – enjoy working with colleagues at all levels of the organization Take ownership of job responsibilities and ad hoc projects Working knowledge of GAAP required Detail-oriented and shows willingness to learn Deadline-oriented Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently Ability to work independently Education and Experience BS / BA in Business Administration (Accounting) or equivalent experience 1-3 years of accounting experience Experience supporting a full cycle close Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 5 pounds at times. Ability to commute to the SF office from Monday to Wednesday (3 days) each week.
