Mid-Level Gift Officer: Fundraising & Donor Growth

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Mid-Level Gift Officer, you will help the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Foundation team maximize philanthropic opportunities in each division across the system. Every day you will focus on a sales and development-based approach to fundraising, which involves primarily calling and occasionally meeting with prospects and investors in the local community, and generate results from those conversation. You will be expected to secure funding for a changing set of projects, such as needs within individual hospitals or organizations, local community initiatives and division efforts. Key Responsibilities Owns a sales/development portfolio: Identifies and prioritizes mid-level prospects and investors. Stewards all donors to ensure ongoing support and to maintain high levels of donor retention. Meets or exceeds annual fundraising goals. Owns relationship management and strategy for all prospects and investors in portfolio including the following: Prospect research and strategy. Prospect predisposition planning. Prospect strategy and planning, including engaging other members of the team as needed. May include, visiting the prospects and “making asks” by applying a variety of selling and relationship techniques or activities including direct mail. Manages prospect follow-up activities, coordinating with the team as needed. Understands complex fund development concepts and ensures compliance with relevant accountability standards, laws, regulations as well as ethical and professional conduct. Collaborates with sales/development team members (and other relevant stakeholders) on engagement of existing investors. Prepares and presents periodic status/progress reports: Works with Foundation leadership, sales/development team and support staff to maintain an accurate record of all gifts, grants and pledges on the Foundation’s automated recordkeeping system, and to ensure coordination of donor contact amongst the Foundation staff and directors. Makes presentations to the Foundation Board of Trustees as needed. Keeps abreast of selling and fund development trends and “best practices”. To be successful in this role, you must works with Foundation leadership to develop and implement strategies for fund development and a sales-based approach to fundraising for the organization and larger division. Job Requirements Required 1-3 years of experience in a team-selling environment required. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1-3 years of related experience in business development, sales, fundraising or other similar fields preferred.
