Accounting Specialist

Position: Accounting Specialist FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Reports To: Accountant Position Description: The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing customer billing, collections, payment applications, and services for LifeSkills Connection Inc. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple financial, purchasing, and operational responsibilities simultaneously. QuickBooks Online experience is essential. An Associate's degree or relevant certification is preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain customer records, set up new accounts, and update contact information
- Generate and send accurate customer invoices on schedule for multiple entities
- Track, monitor, and reconcile customer accounts in QuickBooks Online
- Perform daily data backup from the Postal Mate system into QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile weekly cash drawers to ensure accuracy of cash handling, general ledger posting, and deposits
- Apply incoming payments and resolve discrepancies or short-pays
- Work with each internal team to ensure timely collections and resolve issues
- Monitor various AR-related email inboxes and Microsoft Teams trackers
- Maintain organized accurate AR records for audits and month-end close
- Prepare weekly and monthly AR aging reports for management
- Backup for Accounts Payable
- Other duties as assigned

- Solid understanding of accounting principles (AR processes, billing cycles, cash applications)

- Experience working with diverse constituents, teams, and colleagues
- Work independently, as part of a team, and without supervision when required
- Employ flexibility and creativity in the face of ambiguity and challenge

- Understand personnel and compliance records management; maintain confidentiality; knowledgeable about insurance and reimbursement process
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
- 2+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, or related finance/operations roles
- Associate degree in Accounting or relevant certification preferred
