Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• Deliver high quality compassionate care to patients and families
• Assess patient need and prioritize care according to Triage Standards
• Perform primary and secondary assessments to detect critical needs
• Build trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and educate on post-emergency care
• Maintain communication and provide updates throughout the ED visit

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• NYS RN Licensure
• Two years experience in the Emergency Department
