Faculty 9 month Duties and Responsibilities Instruction & Teaching Teach a full load (typically 15 credit hours per semester or equivalent contact hours) in Process Technology and related disciplines Deliver lecture and hands‑on instruction in areas such as Process operations, safety, health, and environmental practices, instrumentation and control systems, process equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, distillation) Utilize lab equipment, simulators, and industry‑standard technologies Develop and maintain course syllabi aligned with master course templates and learning outcomes Incorporate active learning, competency‑based instruction, and industry scenarios Ensure compliance with SACSCOC, LCTCS, and institutional academic standards Curriculum & Program Development Participate in curriculum design, revision, and alignment with industry needs Support development of stackable credentials (CTC, CTS, TD, AAS) Integrate industry‑based credentials (IBCs) where applicable Student Support & Engagement Provide academic advising and mentoring to students Maintain regular office hours Support student retention and completion initiatives Participate in recruitment, outreach, and dual enrollment activities Assessment & Accreditation Participate in program assessment and continuous improvement processes Maintain documentation for accreditation and program review Track and report student learning outcomes and workforce placement data Industry & Community Engagement Maintain strong relationships with local industry partners (refineries, chemical plants, energy sector) Participate in advisory committee meetings Facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and safety standards Institutional Service Serve on college committees Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and institutional initiatives Support compliance with safety and institutional policies Required Education Associate degree in Process Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or closely related field AND minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience Bachelor's degree in a related field AND minimum of 3 years of industry experience Required Experience Direct experience in petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, or process operations environment Experience with process systems, safety procedures, and industrial equipment Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge: Industrial process systems, including petrochemical and refining operations OSHA safety standards and industrial safety practices Process instrumentation and control systems (PLC/DCS exposure preferred) Equipment operation: pumps, compressors, distillation columns, heat exchangers Skills: Effective classroom and laboratory instruction Ability to translate complex industrial processes into teachable concepts Strong communication (written and verbal) Use of instructional technologies (LMS such as Canvas, PTEC simulation software) Classroom and lab management Abilities: Work effectively with diverse student populations Maintain safe laboratory environments Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry partners Adapt instruction for multiple delivery formats (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online) Maintain currency in a rapidly evolving industrial field Preferred Education Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or closely related field AND minimum of 3 years of industry experience Preferred Experience Prior teaching or training experience (community college or industry training) Industry certifications (e.g., NCCER, OSHA, operator certifications) Experience with simulators (e.g., process simulation software) Experience with PLCs, DCS systems, or instrumentation Familiarity with Louisiana workforce and LCTC systems Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge: Industrial process systems, including petrochemical and refining operations OSHA safety standards and industrial safety practices Process instrumentation and control systems (PLC/DCS exposure preferred) Equipment operation: pumps, compressors, distillation columns, heat exchangers Skills: Effective classroom and laboratory instruction Ability to translate complex industrial processes into teachable concepts Strong communication (written and verbal) Use of instructional technologies (LMS such as Canvas, PTEC simulation software) Classroom and lab management Abilities: Work effectively with diverse student populations Maintain safe laboratory environments Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry partners Adapt instruction for multiple delivery formats (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online) Maintain currency in a rapidly evolving industrial field Benefits As a member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, DCC has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
