Job#: 3051262 Job Description: Journeyman Carpenter Location: Merrifield, Virginia (Onsite) Role Overview This position is for a Journeyman Carpenter. The role involves analyzing, determining, and completing building maintenance requirements related to construction, alteration, installation, and repairs. The individual will also serve as a project manager for various building maintenance projects. Key Responsibilities Analyze, determine, and complete maintenance requirements, including construction, alteration, installation, and repairs of buildings, equipment, and furnishings. Construct specialty items such as cabinets and shelves. Perform preventive maintenance on the building and its furnishings. Manage the Equipment Maintenance Program for the section, including developing checklists and training staff. Serve as project manager for building maintenance projects, directing the work of assistants and contractors. Conduct job analysis to determine project scope and work with customers and contractors. Select and recommend contractors through a competitive bidding process. Ensure scheduled project completion by coordinating with various stakeholders. Review technical documentation and blueprints. Inspect the work of external contractors for quality and adherence to specifications. Provide technical guidance to staff in other building trades. Complete assigned service orders and notify the customer upon completion. Assemble, disassemble, and repair furnishings and partitions. Inspect building systems to diagnose structural problems or malfunctions. Make recommendations concerning safety issues and code compliance. Required Qualifications Must possess a driver's license. Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national building codes. Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials, and safety regulations associated with the carpentry trade. Experience level of 5-10 years. Ability to lift, move, and set up tools, equipment, and furniture weighing in excess of 50 lbs. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill, and performance of job functions at the journeyman level. Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Extensive commercial electrical maintenance experience. Successful completion of an Apprenticeship Program for carpenters or equivalent formal training.
