Lead Infrastructure Engineer - AIX/IBM Power

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We look for formal training or certification in software engineering principles, along with 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience.
• We need deep knowledge in one or more infrastructure engineering areas such as hardware, networking, databases, storage, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance evaluation.
• We require senior-level practical experience across the full lifecycle of IBM Power hardware and related products, including design, implementation, and delivery.
• We expect strong expertise in AIX maintenance, PowerVM/VIOS, Power firmware, HMC maintenance, GPFS maintenance, and systems management agents/tools testing and upkeep.
• We value advanced skills in Unix shell scripting, Python, and Ansible automation.
• We look for familiarity with open-source development approaches and tools for issue tracking and source control.
• We need working knowledge of security technologies such as system lockdown, cyber protection, and authentication, entitlement, and encryption.
• We require strong critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills, plus solid QA and system/performance testing experience.
• We value demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in infrastructure engineering workflows, with careful validation and sensitivity awareness.
• We expect the ability to review AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate when needed, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability standards.
• We look for the ability to collaborate across roles to achieve shared goals, along with understanding of cloud, virtualization, APIs, and modern software languages.

• We design and deliver customized IBM Power infrastructure solutions by converting requirements into resilient architectures and validated implementations.
• We install, configure, test, tune, and support IBM Power environments with an emphasis on reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
• We continuously tune systems, analyze performance, validate service levels, and confirm requirements through structured testing and evidence-based results.
• We lead integration testing, complex troubleshooting, and proof-of-concepts to assess new capabilities and approaches for IBM Power infrastructure management.
• We strengthen engineering practices through automation, repeatable runbooks, and improved observability, while mentoring engineers and collaborating across functions.
• We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to speed up infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
• We apply reuse-first, AI-assisted methods in delivery and automation to identify recurring issues and assess remediation options, ensuring changes are traceable, auditable, and aligned to resiliency and security expectations.
• We work with other platforms to design and implement changes needed to resolve issues and modernize our organization and technology processes.
• We develop creative solutions for design, development, and technical troubleshooting of moderately complex problems.
• We evaluate upstream and downstream data, systems, and technical impacts, and recommend mitigation actions where needed.
