The company develops Specs, advanced eyewear that seamlessly integrates digital experiences into the physical world.Specs feature see-through lenses that place digital objects directly into three-dimensional space, powered by Snap OS, a proprietary, context-aware operating system designed for natural interaction with your hands and voice.Specs Inc. also provides Lens Studio, a full suite of advanced developer tools that powers immersive augmented reality experiences across Specs, Snapchat, and other services.We’re looking for a Computational Imaging Engineer to join the SPECS team!What you’ll do:Develop image signal processing (ISP) pipelines for next generation computational imaging platformsFacilitate cross-functional collaboration across optics, sensors, computer vision, and compute teamsInfluence key architectural decisions and drive consensus on critical trade-offsDevelop test methodologies and characterization plans for camera ISP performanceLead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for sensor performance issuesTravel up to 15%Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge optics and camera systems for imaging, depth mapping, and biometric sensingKnowledge of image quality and ISP pipelinesSkills with software development and data analysis (e.g., C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.)Skills leveraging AI models to accelerate engineering workflows and software developmentAbility to work independently and manage internal and external resourcesAbility to consider system level impacts and tradeoffs in a highly constrained platformAbility to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.Ability to collaborate and operate in a fast-paced cross-functional environment including engineering teams, vendors, suppliers, and outside resource management.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related field2+ years of experience in computational imaging for computer vision applicationsExperience with computational imaging, computer vision, and machine learning for image processingExperience developing and optimizing ISP and machine learning algorithms for camera productsExperience with non-traditional image sensors including: single photon detectors (e.g. SPADs, jots, SiPMs, etc.), event sensors, neuromorphic sensors, etc.Preferred Qualifications:PhD or master’s degree in optics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related field4+ years of experience in designing robust computer vision algorithms for consumer electronics platformsExperience building camera systems for AR/VR, wearables, or mobile platformsExperience developing end-to-end camera ISP pipelines designed for edge and/or distributed compute platformsExperience developing for event based processingExperience with depth mapping and direct time of flight (dTOF) depth measurement systemsExperience designing algorithms for pixel and sensor level logic"Default Together" Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
