Position Overview

First Choice Primary Care is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant to join our team at our Surgical Center located in Amarillo, Texas. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity for a professional looking to make a substantial impact in a fast-paced environment where your skills in trauma assessment and care can truly save lives. The position entails a work schedule from Monday to Friday, requiring you to work the evening shift starting at 5:00 PM, ensuring that you are available to handle critical trauma cases as they arise.

Work Environment

As part of our Surgical Center team, the Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant will work in an onsite setting, directly contributing to the management of patients suffering from acute injuries and illnesses. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, emergency physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to trauma care. Our environment is dynamic and challenging, designed to support rapid response and high-quality medical interventions.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Responding swiftly to trauma alerts, assessing patients' conditions as soon as they arrive.
• Stabilizing patients through immediate interventions to prevent further deterioration of their conditions.
• Assisting in life-saving resuscitation efforts, including CPR and advanced airway management.
• Effectively coordinating interprofessional care for trauma patients with the trauma team.
• Conducting comprehensive physical examinations and interpreting diagnostic results to inform treatment plans.
• Administering prescribed medications and treatments in line with established protocols.
• Participating in invasive procedures and managing wound care under supervision.
• Providing essential education to patients and their families regarding trauma care and recovery processes.
• Facilitating the transfer of patients to appropriate units or specialized facilities as needed.
• Monitoring and managing patients' pain to ensure comfort throughout their care journey.
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to maintain continuity of care within our facility.
• Upholding infection control and safety protocols throughout all trauma care activities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus will be on managing critically injured patients who arrive at the Surgical Center. You will encounter a diverse range of cases, from traumatic accidents to acute medical conditions that necessitate immediate attention. Your compassionate and effective care will directly influence the recovery and health outcomes of patients in distress, making each day rewarding and impactful.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field, followed by graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• A minimum of two years of previous experience in emergency medicine or trauma care is required.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills with a focus on trauma evaluation.
• Proficiency in documenting patient care and treatment plans thoroughly and accurately.
• Effective communication skills to interact with both patients and colleagues adequately.
• A demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with trauma assessment and stabilization protocols.
• Familiarity with trauma-specific medications and interventions.
• Continuous pursuit of professional development, particularly in the realm of trauma medicine.
• Previous involvement in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
• Bilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits
