Job Function Medical Affairs Group Job Sub Function Medical Science Liaison Job Category Scientific/Technology All Job Posting Locations Denver, Colorado, United States Job Description Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is recruiting for the role of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Immunology - GI therapeutic area within the Rocky Mountain territory. The marketing territory covers Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana & Wyoming, with the preferred candidate residing in Denver, CO. The MSL is responsible for providing fair, balanced, objective scientific information and education to opinion leaders (OLs), health‑care professionals, and internal partners as required to support scientific and business objectives. The role includes building and maintaining relationships with identified OLs, healthcare providers (MD, PA, NP, RN, Pharm.D., etc.), leading both virtual and in‑person engagements, and developing a strategic territory plan. The MSL must stay current on scientific and treatment landscape trends in immunology, support company and investigator‑initiated research, and conduct all activities in accordance with regulatory and compliance guidelines. The position is field‑based and requires travel of approximately 75% within the assigned geography. Summary Consistently demonstrate strategic territory planning and ability to build strong relationships within the territory. Develop and maintain a field strategic plan. Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from HCPs/investigators and integrate scientific data including real‑world evidence into practice. Present data appropriately to audiences. Execute proactive and reactive outreach plans in compliance with legal and HCC exceptions. Adapt communication style to individual stakeholder needs. Prioritize franchise initiatives and balance administrative and project responsibilities. Research Initiatives Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company‑sponsored trials to facilitate external‑internal research communication. Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and liaise with R&D, Medical Affairs, and operations teams. Provide clinical trial support: identify potential sites, resolve site issues, and participate in site initiation and investigator launch meetings. Lead at least one scientific or strategic immunology project and identify educational gaps. Scientific Acumen Participate in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs. Engage at scientific conferences to gather new information. Document and share medical insights; synthesize data for the MSL team. Invest time in self‑learning on current scientific landscape. Represent JNJ at scientific stakeholder meetings including conferences, symposia, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and speaking engagements. Department Operations and Internal Partners Execute all administrative requirements accurately and compliantly (expense reports, activity documentation). Maintain composure in uncertain circumstances with minimal direction. Support sales training initiatives and improve field personnel competencies. Collaborate with other MSL teams on a routine basis. Lead or participate in large‑scale projects. Maintain understanding of regulatory and health‑care compliance guidelines, corporate policies on conduct and ethics, and Medical Affairs SOPs. Qualifications PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, or PA with 2+ years relevant TA clinical experience. Ability to support travel up to 75% (including overnight and occasional weekend commitments). Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record. Ability to drive and fly to meetings, conferences, headquarters. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and remote technologies. Reside in the territory (ideal location Denver, CO). Preferred Qualifications Minimum 2 years relevant work experience, including clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical work with presentation skills. Experience in Rheumatology and/or Immunology strongly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and remote technologies. Knowledge of competitive landscape analysis, dashboards, clinical research regulations, consulting, cross‑functional collaboration, customer centricity, data‑driven decision‑making, data gathering and analysis, interpersonal influence, medical affairs, medical communications, medical compliance, mentorship, problem solving, relationship building, research and development, strategic thinking, tactical planning, technical credibility. Base Pay Range $117,000.00 - $201,250.00 Benefits This position is eligible to participate in the company’s long‑term incentive program. Subject to the terms of respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time‑off benefits: Vacation: 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time: 40 hours per calendar year (48 for Colorado, 56 for Washington). Holiday pay including floating holidays: 13 days per calendar year. Work, personal, and family time: up to 40 hours per calendar year. Parental leave: 480 hours within one year of birth/adoption/foster care of a child. Bereavement leave: 240 hours (40 hours for extended family). Caregiver leave: 80 hours in a 52‑week rolling period. Volunteer leave: 32 hours per calendar year.
