This role is ideal for individuals aspiring to take on greater responsibilities and leadership within the logistics and transportation industry. As an Assistant Service Center Manager, you will work with the Service Center Manager to oversee the daily operations of the service center, support the management of staff, ensure efficient and timely freight movement, maintain safety standards, and optimize terminal processes to meet customer expectations and company goals. Essential Job Duties Assists with planning, implementing, and overseeing the work of staff members to ensure efficiency and compliance with organizational requirements and company procedures. Monitors and directs all dispatching activities, including tracking, routing, and dispatching transportation vehicles. Assists in directing work activities designed to promote work safety and encourage continuing education among staff members. Implements changes to transportation services, policies, or scheduling as needed. Ensures staff members fully and consistently comply with safety rules, administrative procedures and policies, and government regulations. Collaborates with staff members and fellow managers to create, modify, and implement goals, procedures, policies, and objectives when the opportunity presents itself. Builds and maintains a culture that is proactive, safety-focused, productive, efficient, and low-attrition. Coaches team members to develop talent and depth to enable growth and effective operation. Produces high levels of service, including on-time pickup and delivery and a claims-free environment. Produces high levels of productivity and optimal levels of labor spend. Collaborates with the Sales team to identify opportunities for growth and works with all stakeholders to integrate new opportunities into the network. Manages customer concerns in agreement with the customer and the company and informs other company personnel of resolution. Coordinates with Fleet and external services to maintain and repair company vehicles. Maintains and submits required vehicle records. Reviews equipment allocation by route and linehaul, and plans as needed. Assists in controlling expenses and operating within budget. Approves and processes external invoices according to company procedure. Minimum Requirements Minimum of two years of experience in LTL Operations or comparable leadership roles. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical, and decision-making skills.
