About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: - 2 years of experience in cardiac open-heart recovery - At least 2 previous travel assignments - Strong surgical intermediate care experience License: RN Certifications: - BLS - ACLS preferred - Critical Care Certification preferred Must-Have: - Experience with high acuity patients - ICU experience required for management of high acuity intermediate care patients Description: The unit is a fast-paced surgical step-down unit. It consists of a multidisciplinary team that primarily cares for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries. Registered Nurses are required to have experience taking care of patients who are 1+ days post-operative from CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements. The unit specializes in caring for patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices, such as LVADs, as well as patients recovering from heart and lung transplants. There are 32 beds in total, with 12 available for continuous cardiac monitoring and the remaining for telemetry or non-monitored levels of care. Nurse-patient ratios typically are 1:3 during the day and 1:4 at night. This role is suited for clinicians who are dedicated to providing high-quality care to cardiac and vascular post-operative patients.
