Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work within a treatment team to help provide coordinated mental/behavioral health care to patients.
- Provide documentation of patient care in accordance with AWARE policy and professional standards, utilizing AWARE's electronic health record as outlined, trained, and assigned.
- Create psychiatric care plans and integrate with existing behavioral/psychotherapeutic plans.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe appropriate psychiatric medications as indicated.
- Recognize physical health issues and refer for patients for care as necessary. Be available to teams as a resource regarding medications and treatments. Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals both inside and outside of the organization.
- Act as an advocate for patients both within and outside of the organization.
- Provide education and support to staff, patients, and families on managing psychiatric illness and disability
- Maintain licensure and certification required by AWARE, the State of Montana, and the federal government.
- Participates in peer/record review process and other quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Performs at or above productivity benchmarks identified by AWARE so that services are sustainable.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Talents, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge and commensurate skills in providing psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults, including those with co-existing intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Accurate and effective written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working as part and sharing decision-making with a therapeutic team.
Education Requirements:
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program.
- Must have licensure in the state where employed or a compact party state and be board certified; documented education and experience in providing psychiatric care.
- Must have prescriptive authorization.
- Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology; readiness to learn and adapt to new technology as it is adopted by AWARE, and to provide input to the selection and implementation of such technology.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written form, with partners at various levels: patients, family members, physicians, members of the treatment team, and representatives of the community.
- Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
