Position Description
Catawba County Emergency Medical Services, an innovative and progressive agency delivering a full range of top-quality pre-hospital care, is hiring hourly/PRN EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic positions. We are looking for highly motivated professionals committed to serving the community with excellent customer service and outstanding patient care. With over 34,500 calls annually, state-of-the-art equipment, and a comprehensive training program, we provide a supportive environment where you can deliver pre-hospital medical care to those in need and advance your career.
SALARY INFORMATION (BASE PAY):
- EMT: $19.35 per hour
- Advanced EMT: $21.33 per hour
- Paramedic: $27.22 per hour
- Night shift differential pay provided.
- Additional pay provided for those with National Registry.
The base hourly rate is commensurate with the certification level. These positions are part-time hourly positions without benefits, working as needed.
Responsibilities
- Administering pre-hospital medical care and psychological support to sick and injured patients
- Operating emergency vehicles
- Attending continuing education programs to maintain recertification hours
- Completing electronic patient care reports and other documentation
- Cleaning and restocking ambulances and bases
- Other assigned duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and completion of:
- Paramedic degree or certification program; OR
- Advanced EMT certification program; OR
- EMT certification program
- Certification by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services at the appropriate level
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position)
- Excellent patient care skills with thorough knowledge of paramedic-level emergency medical protocols and the ability to properly use the appropriate equipment and supplies
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies/procedures
- Dedication to outstanding customer service and community focus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of individuals, including citizens, co-workers, managers, hospital staff, and other agencies
- Exceptional initiative and motivation
- Knowledge of the geographical layout of Catawba County
- Working conditions are inside/outside, and candidates must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 200 pounds with a partner regularly
