Assistant Director for Campus Recreation - Fitness and Wellness

Assistant Director of Campus Recreation (Fitness) Reports to: Director of Campus Recreation Supervises: Student workers Classification: Full-time, 12-month position FLSA Status: Exempt Wingate University is a teaching university which serves more than 3,400 students on two campuses. Job Purpose To provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff to enhance healthy living by initiating academic, educational and practical programs to promote healthy lifestyles; coordination of wellness initiatives; develop programs to reduce health-related risk factors; oversee the fitness program, and assists with the overall function of Campus Recreation. Duties and Responsibilities Organize and implement a yearly campus fitness and wellness program. Provide leadership, organization, vision and oversight for fitness and wellness initiatives. Manage the direction and growth of group fitness classes and personal training services. Supervise all fitness staff including the recruitment, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student fitness instructors and personal trainers and program assistants. Instruct one or two group fitness classes per week each semester. Coordinate themed special events. Market all fitness and wellness programs. Implement and revise policies and procedures to provide a safe environment. Participate in the development of annual goals and objectives for Campus Recreation. Seek opportunities for professional growth. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in sport administration, nutrition, physical education, exercise science, or a related field is preferred. Certification in personal training and/or group fitness instruction is required. Valid driver's license.
