CORRECTIONAL COUNSELOR I

Job Description and Duties Under the supervision of the Correctional Counselor II (Supervisor), the Correctional Counselor I will be responsible for the following duties: Address inmate requests and obtain inmate signatures for legal paperwork; Prepare pre‑release reports; Supervise central file reviews and inmate attorney visits; Review inmates’ appeals and interview inmates when necessary; Coordinate with outside agencies, attorneys, and family members; Set up unit classification committees and maintain and track medical/psychiatric referrals; Process trust withdrawals and copy legal material for inmates; Prepare special reports and counsel inmates on personal, institutional, and family problems. Job Conditions 12‑month limited term, may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
