Machine Operator

Pay Rate:

• Day Shift: $22/hour
• Night Shift: $23/hour + $1.25/hour shift differential

Location: Franklin, MA
Job Type: Direct Hire, Permanent
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating weekly schedule

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Employees work alternating schedules of 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week. Overtime is available for hours worked over 40 in a workweek, in accordance with applicable requirements.

Candidates hired for night shift will initially train on day shift for approximately 2–4 weeks.

Position Overview

We are seeking dependable Machine Operators to join a manufacturing team in Franklin, MA. This role involves setting up, operating, and monitoring production equipment used to process paper and related materials. The ideal candidate has manufacturing or machine operation experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety and product quality.

Candidates should be comfortable using measuring tools, performing basic mathematical calculations, entering production information into a computer, and identifying potential equipment or quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate production machinery used for coating, slitting, metallizing, and sheeting materials.
• Load material rolls onto equipment and ensure proper machine setup within established tolerances.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficient production.
• Follow production schedules, work orders, specifications, checklists, and verbal instructions.
• Inspect materials and finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards.
• Perform measurements using a ruler or measuring tape and verify product dimensions against specifications.
• Monitor equipment conditions and report malfunctions, process irregularities, or safety concerns.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
• Operate material-handling equipment, such as hoists, trucks, and dollies, as trained and authorized.
• Complete basic computer entries and production documentation.
• Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas.
• Follow established safety procedures and workplace organization standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production, quality, and equipment concerns.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read a ruler or measuring tape and understand basic measurements.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and simple calculations.
• Basic computer skills, including data entry.
• Ability to read and understand written work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation in English.
• Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Safety-conscious mindset and willingness to identify and report potential hazards.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate support, as required.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Familiarity with 5S or other workplace organization practices is a plus.
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule, including alternating 36-hour and 48-hour workweeks.

Safety and Physical Requirements

• Must follow established workplace safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
• Steel-toe or composite-toe safety shoes are required. Eligible employees receive up to $120 toward the purchase of safety shoes.
• Additional required protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection, is provided.
