Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Research Manager, the Research Assistant supports clinical research efforts by providing comprehensive data management for a research portfolio of Phase I-IV protocols in accordance with Institutional policy, Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines as adopted by the FDA. The Research Assistant is responsible for timely and accurate collection and coordination of data submission to study sponsors, and ensuring quality control.

The Research Assistant may attend clinic and the research laboratory as needed to perform activities including, but not limited to: data collection, data entry, assisting in clinic procedures related to research, assisting in recruitment activities and administering questionnaires. The Research Assistant is responsible for the compilation and transcription of research patient data and study related information into case report forms (CRF’s) and into sponsor specific electronic data capture systems (EDC). The Research Assistant will work with the clinical research team to manage and collect accurate data and assist Principal Investigators and study coordinators for all data management aspects of clinical trials.

Essential Duties

Manages the collection of data and makes sure it is precise and accurate.

Abstracts the data from the medical record and completes paper and electronic case report forms, while maintaining strict confidentiality of patients, employees and company information at all times.

Identifies and communicates important data management issues or problems to the manager in a timely manner.

Provides support to the Research Team

Maintains inventory for study supplies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).

Minimum of one year of direct experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).

Clean driving record and a valid CA Driver's license.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Basic Life Support(BLS) Certification (or ability to obtain within the first three months of hire).

HIPAA Training (or ability to complete within one month of hire).

Additional Required Qualifications

Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands effectively.

Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.

Flexible ability to manage many simultaneous projects autonomously.

Skilled at chart review and abstracting data from patient charts.

Knowledge of some medical terminology.

Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and ICH guidelines as adopted by the FDA

Preferred Qualifications

Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience in outpatient acute setting or other healthcare facility.

CITI and Good Clinical Practices (GCP) certification.

Bilingual in Spanish.

Compensation listed is the expected salary base at time of hire. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the Organization The Center for Comprehensive Care & Diagnosis of Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is committed to providing comprehensive care for patients and their families with rare, chronic inherited blood disorders. CIBD is a part of a nationwide network of over 140 Hemophilia Treatment Centers that use multidisciplinary teams of blood disorder specialists to provide expert comprehensive diagnosis, medical care, outreach, education, outcomes monitoring, surveillance, and prevention services to people with Hemophilia, Sickle-Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, Von Willebrand Disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and other related benign hematology conditions. CIBD is the regional grantee for the Western States Region for Hemophilia, the Pacific Sickle Cell Regional Collaborative (PSCRC) and Networking California for Sickle Cell Care (NCSCC) providing regional leadership, fiscal and administrative oversight, grants management, capacity building, clinical education, technical assistance, evaluation, and outreach to public and private health agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
