From unloading trucks and rotating product to tagging shelves and keeping the backroom in order, your work directly shapes the shopping experience our customers count on.If you enjoy staying active, work well as part of a team, and take pride in a job well done, this could be a great fit for you.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they needAssist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the teamUnload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshnessMonitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordinglyOrganize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged itemsTag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawersReport new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system inputWork alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, efficient overnight operationMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Perishables, Store Operations, and E-commerce, and Overnight Stock ManagerYour SkillsYou don't need prior experience for this role! We'll happily train and support you as you grow. To be successful, you'll need to be able to:Follow written and verbal instructions with confidenceUse basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentagesCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful wayStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shiftHigh school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferredReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Perishables, Store Operations, and E-commerce, and Overnight Stock ManagerEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredUp to six months of similar or related work experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistanceContinuously stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment (required operator certification must be completed prior to independent use)Work in cooler or freezer environments for extended periodsWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind productWhere applicable to the role, and in accordance with applicable age and legal requirements: operate a cardboard baler or compactorWhere applicable to the role: perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofingAbility to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandiseWorking EnvironmentThis is a physically demanding, hands-on role performed primarily during overnight hours. You may encounter daily exposure to dirt, noise, equipment movement hazards, and cleaning chemicals or solvents, with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and potential electrical shock. The role involves working with and around heavy store equipment.
