Machine BuilderLocation: Auburn Hills, MI 6:00a-4:30pm M-F (50 hours per week)Position SummarySeeking a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician to build high-quality custom industrial equipment and automation systems. This position is responsible for assembling machines from engineering drawings and bills of material while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and takes pride in building complex machinery correctly the first time.ResponsibilitiesAssemble custom industrial equipment from mechanical drawings and BOMs.Install bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motors, actuators, conveyors, pneumatic components, and structural assemblies.Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, engineering prints, exploded assembly drawings, and bills of material.Use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and torque wrenches.Align mechanical systems to engineering specifications.Install pneumatic tubing and fittings.Perform mechanical adjustments and troubleshooting.Assist electrical technicians during final integration when necessary.Complete quality inspection checklists.Maintain clean and organized workstations.Report engineering discrepancies through the Project Manager.Follow all company safety procedures.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED 5+ years of mechanical assembly experience Experience building industrial machinery or automation equipment Ability to read mechanical blueprints Experience using precision measuring tools Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts (or willingness to obtain certification) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Preferred QualificationsAssociate degree in Mechanical Technology Experience with packaging equipment, automation systems, robotics, food processing equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, or cannabis processing equipment Pneumatic and hydraulic assembly experience Machine alignment experienceSkillsBlueprint reading Mechanical troubleshooting Precision assembly Fastener torque procedures Machine alignment Pneumatic systems Bearing installation Gearbox installation Conveyor assembly Continuous improvement mindset Strong attention to detailTools UsedTorque wrenches Dial indicators Calipers Micrometers Hand tools Power tools Drill press Arbor press Hydraulic presses Hoists Overhead cranesPerformance ExpectationsBuild equipment according to engineering drawings without deviation.
