About the Position

Job Title: IR RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7p - 7:30a with 1 hr Lunch Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Interventional Radiology License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: PALS certification is mandatory Description: Unit consists of 7 Registered Nurses. There is 1 Interventional Radiology room. Cath Lab is used for vascular procedures. Nurses may rotate between both units within the same day. On average, there are 5-8 interventional radiology procedures daily. Approximately 50 patients require CT prep and IV starts each day. Common diagnoses include various biopsies and complex vascular procedures. Procedures may include embolizations, thrombectomies, and drains. Pain management injections may be administered for spinal or joint issues. IV insertions and CT preparations for scheduled patients are required. Patient management is needed in all phases of procedures: pre, intra, and post. Effective communication with physician and mid-level providers regarding patient care is essential. Documentation is done electronically and on paper according to modality and procedure. Schedule may require flexibility for upcoming staffing needs. Nurses will not be expected to float outside of designated areas. Scrub colors are royal blue, with flexibility for surgical scrubs or disposables in certain areas. Unit-specific orientation consists of three shifts with further evaluation as needed. No call responsibilities are assigned to night nurses. Permanent staff provide coverage during weekends and holidays. Excessive call-ins may lead to termination of employment. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in IV starts. Experience in critical care is considered a bonus.
