Job Description Job Description Fabricator – Architectural Metals (Stairs & Rail Systems) Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable Fabricator with experience in architectural metal fabrication , specifically stairs, rail systems, and custom assemblies. This is a key production role responsible for delivering precise, install-ready work that supports both shop efficiency and field success. This is not an entry-level position . We are looking for individuals who can interpret drawings independently, think through assemblies, and execute high-quality work with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Fabricate stairs, rail systems, and custom metal assemblies from shop drawings Read and interpret prints, layouts, dimensions, and field conditions accurately Perform fit-up, welding, grinding, and finishing work with attention to detail Select and apply proper welding processes including SMAW, GMAW (MIG), and FCAW Operate fabrication equipment including saws, rollers, drill presses, grinders, and related shop tools Build jigs and fixtures to improve repeatability and production accuracy Inspect welds and completed assemblies before release to ensure quality standards Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Assist field installation teams as needed Qualifications & Requirements Non-Negotiables Ability to read and understand shop drawings independently Strong fit-up and fabrication skills with tight joints and accurate alignment Proven welding capability across multiple welding processes Consistent production of clean, accurate, install-ready work Accountability for workmanship and quality Strong work ethic, reliability, and team mindset Required Experience Minimum 2+ years of metal fabrication experience Experience with stairs, rails, or structural assemblies preferred Familiarity with fabrication sequencing and workflow Basic math, layout, and measurement proficiency Preferred Certifications SMAW Certification GMAW (MIG) Certification FCAW Certification OSHA 10 Forklift Certification First Aid / CPR Work Environment Primarily shop-based fabrication with up to 25% field exposure Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work in heat, dust, and high-noise environments Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights when required What Sets Top Candidates Apart Experience with custom architectural metalwork Ability to solve fabrication and assembly challenges independently Produces field-ready work with minimal rework Understands how shop quality impacts installation efficiency and project success Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience ESOP (Employee Ownership Program) Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Paid holidays Performance-based bonuses / profit sharing opportunities Bottom Line We are looking for fabricators who take pride in precision, think ahead, and deliver clean work the first time.
