This health system provides inpatient and outpatient ophthalmology services with the clinical infrastructure necessary to support trauma-related eye care and ED consultation coverage. The facility operates on an on-site basis and maintains established protocols to support 24-hour call-based ophthalmology coverage. Clinical operations are structured to ensure quality eye care delivery for the community served.

North Carolina offers a range of regional attractions suited to varied interests, including outdoor recreation, scenic mountain landscapes, and coastal areas. The state features year-round opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and cultural exploration. Mountain towns, coastal communities, and inland areas each provide distinct outdoor, historical, and cultural activities available throughout the year.

Clinicians will provide inpatient and outpatient ophthalmology coverage on 24-hour shifts, evaluating all hospital and ED consults including the surgical treatment of trauma, with anticipated volumes of 5-8 patients per day and an average of 5-6 patients per clinician. Required procedures include repair of ruptured globe, repair of eyelid lacerations, and removal of corneal foreign bodies. Clinicians must remain within 20 minutes of the medical center while on call; no ICU or critical care duties are required, and code response is not expected for this assignment. EPIC EMR training is preferred for this locum tenens position.
