Occupational Therapists provide services that identify, prevent, remediate, and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain. Treatment techniques include select activities, modalities, and exercise and instruction to patient/family to enhance overall functional performance. Clinical responsibilities include treatment of pediatrics, adults, and mature adults.

Responsibilities:

• Performs occupational therapy evaluations on patients with complex diagnoses.
• Performs occupational therapy treatment planning and implementation for complex patients.
• Provides patient/family education and training.
• Provides peer reviews and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.
• Initiates discharge planning.
• Continuing education: attends 20 hours of general continuing education per year. Provides 10 hours of inservice education to staff per year.
• Provides full time clinical experience to students and community education lectures.
• Mentors lower level staff and new staff.
• Assists with annual competency training and verification.
• Assists with scheduling patients and achieving appropriate staffing.
• Inpatient therapists may perform PPS related functions on the rehab unit.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Experience:

Bachelor's Level Degree Required. Minimum Experience: three years. Desired: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification and CPR certification.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
