Hazmat Response & Remediation Technician

Safety Hazmat Technician Job located in Fontana, CA service center. The Hazmat Technician reports to the Director of Safety and is responsible for emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, handling of hazardous materials, and other related duties. 2nd and 3rd Shift Available. Responsibilities Perform tasks associated with emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous materials clean‑up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials. Qualifications 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by OSHA and industry health standards Work effectively and communicate with team members and other departments Inform management of issues that arise on jobs in a timely manner Update job notes daily Physically fit; able to lift 75 pounds Excels in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced, team‑supported environment Lead safety in all aspects of emergency response, including following R+L procedures, properly containerizing waste/re‑use products, completing safety documentation, and upholding R+L’s high level of safety Experience operating tools applicable to emergency response activities Set up and participate in live training events to ensure the competency of personnel Audit incoming/outgoing hazardous materials shipments for compliance Coaching co‑workers on unsafe behaviors observed Willing to participate in specialized scheduled projects as required Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service, and problem‑solving skills Proven ability to work in a confidential capacity Detail‑oriented and able to handle multiple tasks Benefits R+L Carriers offers a competitive salary starting at $75,000 and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions, paid vacation and holidays, and vacation lodging at exclusive employee resorts in Daytona Beach, FL; Big Bear Lake, CA; Pigeon Forge, TN; and Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
