Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required License: Current nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Strong Neuro Critical Care background with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Neuro ICU. - Experience with stroke management, including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes. - Proficiency in care for ventilated patients and management of external ventricular drains. - Familiarity with continuous IV sedation and blood product administration. - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias. - Experience with lumbar drains and ICP monitoring. Description: This position requires a registered nurse specializing in Neuro ICU. The nurse will provide high-quality care to patients with various neuro conditions. The unit accepts stroke patients, including those with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, SDH, and post-neurosurgery management. The nurse will work in a comprehensive stroke center and will manage arterial lines, central lines, and ventilators. Patient ratios in the unit will be 2:1, with flexibility to adjust to 3:1 in high census situations. The average daily census is expected to be between 11 to 12 patients. Nurses will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including therapy and pharmacy support. Weekend shifts are required every other week. Floating to other units may be required based on patient care needs. All registered nurses interested in this position must pass EKG testing prior to starting. RTO requests must be submitted in advance and must adhere to the facility guidelines. Additional certifications may be preferred but are not mandatory.
