Entry-Level Staff Accountant / Accounting Assistant

Location: Winter Garden, FL Pay: $24–$30 per hour Schedule: Part-Time | 20–30 Hours per Week | Flexible Schedule Experience Level: Entry-Level Growth Opportunity: Potential transition to full-time Job Summary A growing homebuilding company is seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant / Accounting Assistant to support daily accounting, bookkeeping, and construction‑related financial operations. This role offers hands‑on experience working with company leadership and an outside CPA, with the opportunity to grow into a full‑time accounting position. Job Responsibilities Perform daily bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance. Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements, and assist with month‑end and year‑end close. Prepare financial reports, account reconciliations, and documentation for the outside CPA. Track budgets, project costs, job cost reports, and cost variances. Review and code vendor invoices, issue and track purchase orders, and monitor subcontractor payments. Assist with project reconciliations, allowances, change orders, warranty accounting, and payroll documentation. Maintain vendor records, organized digital files, and accurate financial and project data. Communicate professionally with vendors and trade partners. Support leadership with reporting, special projects, and process improvements. Explore technology and AI tools to improve accounting workflows, reporting, and efficiency. Qualifications Required Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or currently pursuing a degree. Basic understanding of accounting principles and journal entries. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn. Preferred Experience with QuickBooks Online and bookkeeping. Construction accounting experience is a plus but not required. Comfort with or willingness to learn ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, AI‑powered accounting tools, and workflow automation platforms.
