Tax Accountant - Temple, TX

Express Employment Professionals is hiring on behalf of a well-established public accounting firm in Temple, TX. Pay: $48,000-$55,000 annually (DOE)

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, fiduciaries, exempt organizations, and gift tax filings
• Review tax returns for accuracy and compliance
• Prepare payroll tax and franchise tax filings
• Conduct tax research and analyze tax-related issues
• Gather and organize client information and supporting documentation
• Research and respond to IRS notices and correspondence
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
• Assist clients with tax planning and compliance matters

Qualifications

• 3+ years of previous tax preparation experience required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Schedule


January - Mid-February

• Monday-Friday
• 8:15 AM - 4:45 PM
• Must be willing to work additional hours, with workloads averaging 60-70 hours per week during tax season

Mid-February - April 15

• Monday-Saturday
• 8:15 AM - 4:45 PM
• Peak tax season hours averaging 60-70 hours per week

Late April - Mid-December

• Monday-Thursday only
• 8:15 AM - 4:45 PM
• Only three scheduled Fridays required during September and October

Holiday Schedule

• Office closed for one week following the April tax deadline
• Office closed from mid-December through January 2 for Christmas and New Year's

Important: Candidates must be willing and able to work extended hours during tax season to meet client deadlines. In return, employees enjoy a reduced 4-day work week for most of the year and generous holiday closures.
