Sous Chef

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is looking for a Sous Chef to support our Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. The ideal candidate is mission‑driven, values integrity, and excels at building trusting relationships while challenging the status quo. Responsibilities Lead the Performance Chef, Production Specialist, hot line, salad bar, and dish room staff. Prepare main entrees for the hot line and grill/fusion stations, ensuring they meet athletes’ dietary needs. Maintain efficient operation of all food production areas, including hot line, servery lines, and dish room. Monitor front‑of‑house, cashier area, and conduct daily team briefings. Ensure food production follows safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines. Assist with inventory, receiving, and stocking of food items. Propose improvements to operating procedures and training staff on recipes and equipment maintenance. Report maintenance issues and incidents to management promptly. Complete all required documentation and paperwork at shift’s end. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or G.E.D. and ability to read, write, and communicate at a 12th‑grade level. Continuing education in culinary techniques required. ServeSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Minimum 5 years of experience as a production chef or apprentice in large‑volume food production. Minimum 3 years of team‑leadership experience. Knowledge of sanitation, safety practices, and Health Department regulations. Understanding of OSHA regulations and proper chemical usage. Strong communication, training, and team‑management skills. General knowledge of kitchen equipment safety and operation. Ability to read and follow recipes, understand measurements, and meet nutritional specifications. Skill in food presentation and display. Dependable, organized, and detail‑oriented. Capacity to work independently under pressure. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Computer literacy, including database usage. Excellent customer‑service skills. Maintenance of confidentiality regarding USOPC matters. Tools, Equipment & Conditions Exposure to extreme temperatures and sustained standing. Repetitive motions such as bending, kneeling, and reaching; must lift up to 50 lbs using a buddy system and wear a safety lift belt. Handling of chemicals in compliance with OSHA guidelines. Shared workspace and commercial kitchen utensils and equipment. Regular attendance is a required job function. Location Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay: $21.00. Full‑time, non‑exempt position (40 hours per week).
