RN Cardiac Cath Lab

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular interventions. This role involves patient assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, medication administration, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. The nurse will also participate in patient and family education, performance improvement activities, and professional development. A minimum of three years RN experience with at least one year in critical care and cardiovascular intervention experience is required. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments, develop and execute individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments following nursing standards, policies, and legal regulations.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care according to established standards.
• Provide patient and family education to support understanding and compliance with treatment plans.
• Participate in department and unit performance improvement and shared governance activities.
• Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units to support patient care continuity.
• Identify and resolve system breakdowns, escalating issues through appropriate channels as needed.
• Manage complex patient situations using critical thinking and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and support evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Participate in peer review and feedback processes to promote professional nursing standards.
• Maintain timely patient flow and respond to telephone triage as applicable.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of 3 years RN experience with at least 1 year of critical care experience.
• Cardiovascular intervention experience required.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in Wisconsin or Compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Successful completion of EKG competency test.

• Experience in cardiac catheterization lab nursing or related specialty settings.
• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.

• On-call frequency includes one night per week and one weekend per month.
• Work environment involves high-acuity cardiac patients requiring specialized nursing care.
• Participation in shared governance and performance improvement initiatives is expected.
