Production Supervisor

Metal Production Supervisor Oversee and direct activities of assigned personnel according to daily production requirements within the metal department. The role requires execution of Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation, and a win-first culture while meeting company financial and performance metrics. Principal Responsibilities Supervise staff engaged in operational activities on designated shift; accountable for the performance of cell leads and other assigned employees. Ensure execution of daily activities of department staff, establishing or adjusting work procedures and schedules to support business targets. Evaluate work performance, provide regular feedback, and administer performance evaluations to assigned staff. Involved in interviewing, hiring, and selecting candidates. Administer coaching, counseling, and corrective action to assigned employees. Oversee the training process, including the Employee Training Records (ETR), for assigned employees in proper techniques for given operations or jobs. Engage in daily Gemba process to ensure support and engagement of employees, as well as product flow between departments. Review operational documentation for accuracy and drive timely ownership and resolution of area countermeasures. Ensure safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards are met. Actively participate in Kaizen and Six‑Sigma activities to support policy deployment/CIP and improve operating results. Work with area leaders on production issues and communicate with other departments as needed to resolve issues via Gemba and other available processes. Review prior days’ production output and make corrections as needed. Verify employee time‑keeping records and adjust as needed. Monitor supply levels for assigned areas and work in conjunction with outside suppliers and contractors as needed. Support all departments on shift as needed, not only the departments assigned on a regular basis. Lead periodic employee meetings as needed or assigned. Be responsible for overall supervision of employees in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Lead functions such as interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and rewarding performance; disciplining; suspending and discharging employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage safety, 5S, and Gemba countermeasures, HS&E incident reporting and corrective actions, input and trend data for statistical process control (SPC) via WinSPC, preventative maintenance and gauge calibration schedules and adherence, as well as employee training records (ETR). Work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demands. Develop and maintain courteous and effective working relationships. Be sufficiently adaptable to accept and perform in a timely and effective manner with minimal or no advanced notice. Effectively meet communication expectations with other members of management as defined by the organization. Perform additional duties as requested by management. Qualification Requirements College degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience. Five to seven years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four years of machining experience. 1‑2 years of supervisory experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and various software programs. Knowledge of various office equipment. Knowledge of department‑specific documentation such as record‑keeping, quality standards, efficiency standards, operational processes, material, equipment, and design standards. Department‑specific technical knowledge such as 5S & O.E.E. knowledge, lean manufacturing principles, manufacturing processes, CNC machining, blueprint reading, gauge and fixture design/build, GD&T, inspection/measuring equipment as they relate to the department needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
