Manufacturing Process Technician

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Process Technician is responsible for supporting daily production by improving manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production issues, maintaining process documentation, and executing continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as a key technical resource on the production floor, partnering with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and HSE teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Process Support

• Provide real-time production support by resolving process, tooling, and documentation issues.
• Serve as the first line of support for process-related concerns on the manufacturing floor.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Escalate unresolved process issues within established response timelines.
• Participate in daily operations meetings, including PQP, End-of-Day, and other production reviews.

Safety

• Promote and maintain a safe working environment by:
• Stopping unsafe work immediately.
• Reporting hazards and incidents promptly.
• Using required PPE at all times.
• Correcting hazards within individual control.
• Identifying risks and collaborating with the team on solutions.
• Perform work in accordance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures as an authorized user.

Process Documentation

• Create, maintain, and improve work instructions and manufacturing process documentation.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, current, and user-friendly.
• Review production issues related to documentation and proactively update work instructions.
• Validate work instructions with production operators to ensure effectiveness.

Tooling & Equipment Support

• Support tooling and equipment used throughout manufacturing operations.
• Identify and implement tooling improvements that improve efficiency and process repeatability.
• Ensure tooling modifications follow established Management of Change (MOC) and documentation procedures.
• Coordinate validation testing for new or modified tooling before production release.

Project Management

• Independently manage and execute small- to medium-sized manufacturing improvement projects.
• Develop project timelines, monitor progress, and deliver projects on schedule.
• Document project activities, results, and measurable outcomes.
• Utilize manufacturing and problem-solving tools including:
• Excel
• Time Studies
• Cross-functional meetings
• 5 Why Analysis
• Management of Change (MOC)
• Other continuous improvement methodologies

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
• Develop and implement process improvements while validating effectiveness.
• Collaborate across Operations, Quality, Engineering, and HSE to drive sustainable improvements.
• Reduce recurring production issues through proactive process optimization.

Quality & Process Control

• Maintain controlled manufacturing processes by ensuring all process changes are documented and approved.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Update process documentation following approved process changes.
• Participate in structured problem-solving activities to improve manufacturing performance.

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with production, engineering, quality, maintenance, and support teams.
• Provide regular project updates and communicate action items during meetings and through written correspondence.
• Coordinate manufacturing changes and improvement initiatives across multiple departments.
• Organize and facilitate meetings as needed to support project execution and operational improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a production environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience creating or maintaining work instructions and process documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard business software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
• Experience conducting root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why.
• Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Experience supporting tooling improvements and equipment validation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and process control.
• LOTO authorization or the ability to obtain certification.
