This business unit includes our OXO, Osprey, and Hydro Flask brands, and this role may support one or more of these brands. Position Industrial Designer Department: Industrial Design – Home & Outdoor Work Location: New York, NY, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite) Hybrid Schedule: Hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For eligible roles, the standard schedule includes in‑office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Schedules may vary based on business needs and managerial expectations. What You Will Be Doing The Industrial Designer will advance insight‑driven design solutions across the Home & Outdoor division for OXO, Hydro Flask, and Osprey. Working with brand leadership, engineering, and marketing, you will translate each brand’s distinct design ethos into on‑brand product solutions and drive day‑to‑day responsibilities through key stakeholder gate meetings. Responsibilities Design and develop new products through strategic thinking and process. Assess user experience related to ergonomics, user logic, and product interaction. Ideate product aesthetics, form, color, and design language. Identify and solve end‑user needs through rigorous user testing. Apply research and insights to ensure functionality, user experience, and aesthetics align with brand identity. Define color solutions strategically in line with business goals. Design within manufacturing and cost constraints. Align with engineering and business units throughout all stages of design development. Lead design activities through design process gates. Implement and organize design activities around schedules and project goals. Manage project timelines, tasks, and functions of projects. Support optimization of Industrial Design across HF and OXO by leading implementation and maintenance of the established Visual Brand Language. Skills Needed to Be Successful in This Role Strong sense of aesthetics demonstrated in work and portfolio presentations. Experience conducting user insight‑driven ethnography studies to inform design decisions. Proficient in brand strategy as it relates to Industrial Design. Visible understanding and knowledge of injection molding plastics. Ability to articulate subjective matters in a tactile strategic manner (e.g., color, aesthetics). Experience presenting work and communicating effectively with senior leadership. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Proven track record of commercialized product brought to market. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. 4 years’ experience in Industrial Design / product development of consumer products. High proficiency in SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator), KeyShot, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated track record of leading consumer products from concept through commercialization. Strong understanding of injection molding and plastics manufacturing processes. Sample portfolio showcasing work as the primary designer on consumer products (required with the application). Experience with project management tools (e.g., Basecamp, Smartsheet). Ability to travel domestically up to 10% as needed. Authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Design consultancy experience. Experience designing outdoor equipment and gear. Salary In New York City, the standard base pay range for this role is $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 annually. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
