Research Assistant

Overview The George Washington University Department of Pharmacology & Physiology is an active research department with federally funded programs in neuroscience and development, cardiovascular pharmacology and integrative physiology, genomics, and oncology. It offers unique pre‑ and postdoctoral biomedical research training, teaches Pharmacology and Physiology to Medical and Physician Assistant students, and provides graduate courses through the GW Institute for Biomedical Sciences. The mission is to deliver high‑quality education, advance scientific knowledge, and improve human health through cutting‑edge biomedical research. Employer will not sponsor for employment Visa status. Responsibilities Laboratory organization and management. Mouse colony maintenance and husbandry. Perform and support research in the laboratory, including solution preparation, stereotaxic surgeries, immunohistochemistry, and mouse behavior. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Hold a BA/BS in a related discipline, degree conferred by the start date. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, psychology or a related field. Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Prior laboratory experience, particularly with mouse husbandry, genotyping, behavior, or stereotaxic surgery.
