Quality Control Inspector

Location: Pompano Beach

Payrate: $20.00

Schedule: 3:00 pm until work is done (rotational Saturday )

Position Duties:

• Download temp recorders from shipments.
• Inspect incoming shipments for quality and condition.
• Complete an inspection sheet upon arrival with all pertinent information and enter it on LotPath/ BC (Business Central).
• Upload Pictures to SharePoint (Growers Web site).
• Photograph the deficiencies of any incoming shipment.
• Responsible for determining if a sea container can be offloaded if there has been a temperature breach.
• Request USDA inspections if needed.
• Assist surveyors and USDA inspectors (if an inspection was requested)
• Coordinate and assign lots for any transfer request from procurement.
• Ensure ongoing shipments are tagged properly when they need to be tagged with any specific instructions/labels.
• Responsible for investigate/correct discrepancies/issues related to inventory/orders.
• Maintain records/documents for future investigations regarding inventory.
• Maintain records/documents of Retains investigations and shelf-life evaluations.
• Upload the information to the appropriate database.
• Assist with any transfers when is needed (moving product from different warehouse locations).
• Notify the appropriate personnel when the product does not meet customer specifications
• Ensure a revision is done in the system when it is required for product substitution.
• Assist with training current employees and new hires.
• Help receive and inspect the product.
• Assist in filing documentation for the department.
• Report questionable product quality to the Procurement Manager and the QC & Inventory Manager.
• Ensure the inventory of each cooler matches what the system shows and communicate any discrepancies to the QC & Inventory Manager.
• Responsible for inventory rotation.
• Responsible for staging all Donation and Dump orders.
• Responsible for conducting cooler assessments on aged product/expired product and communicating any quality issues to procurement and commodity managers.
• Responsible for the rotation of the product based on QUALITY AND CONDITION.
• Operate, train, and follow up on the ripening rooms, procedures, and tasks related to ripening.
• Prepare and select sample products for customers, shows.
• Manage the QC/QA orders sent by the Sales Department.
• Responsible for making sure all orders are done correctly and with the right product.
• Research any rejection or complaint on the system.
• Maintain the warehouse in a clean and safe manner.
• Follow strict adherence to GMP’s, HACCP, and Food Safety policies and procedures.
• Treat and maintain company assets with a sense of ownership.
• Must be open to working an open schedule as needed, including weekends.

Qualification Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift, bend, twist, squat, reach, and grasp.
• Knowledge of general fresh produce quality
• Current forklift experience.
• Proficient knowledge of BC.
• Excellent ability to work as a team and self-driven
• Good attention to detail and product quality
• Able to follow directions verbally and by phone.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in making recommendations and decisions within the scope of responsibility.
• Must be able to work in a refrigerated environment from 34o F to 55o F, depending on the cooler.
