Description:
The MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury.
This is done in accordance with established protocols.
The technologist performs high-quality MRI procedures in a timely manner.
Production and quality of imaging procedures are maintained by following established standards and protocols.
Communication with patients is done using AIDET to identify service requirements and establish rapport.
Instructing and communicating with patients and their family regarding the test to be performed is essential.
The technologist prepares the patient and the area for the procedure by positioning the patient and adjusting equipment controls.
They must protect patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements and infection control policies.
Proper sterile techniques are used when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures.
Maintaining equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards is necessary.
The technologist works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.
Reporting issues to management or the appropriate department is required.
The technologist ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies.
They obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation such as requisitions and consent forms.
Maintaining medical imaging records is required according to department policies and for timely interpretation.
The technologist must perform high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
They should explain procedures to patients to put them at ease.
Services must be provided in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner, in compliance with established standards.
The technologist should be able to perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
Maintaining a calm and helpful attitude during times of stress is necessary.
Effective first aid administration and emergency cart usage is essential.
Ensuring customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service is a priority.
Maintaining current knowledge and skills pertaining to care for different age groups is expected.
The technologist may serve as a preceptor, providing quality training to new team members.
Taking call may be required.
