System Administrative Assistant (Program Assistant)

Two (2) Positions to be filled. Under the direction of the VRSIIS Administrator works in a collaborative environment to provide support to the Vital Records Statistics and Integrated Information System including timely entry of new users, updates to existing user permissions, and testing system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Under supervision, works in a team environment to process new user requests and table maintenance updates. Answers phone and emails in a friendly demeanor and appropriately responds to requests for assistance from system users. Responds to emails from helpdesk email in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a point of contact for determining single or multiuser issues. Alerts supervisor of any issues that may affect a large subset of users and follows up with users to ensure resolution. Assists with on-call weekend coverage as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in system testing as needed for configuration changes or other system upgrades. Communicates directly with system vendor as directed by supervisor.
  • Assists in storage and maintenance of system related forms including new user forms and other documents as assigned.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and four (4) years relevant program experience or IT services. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience. Agency Additional Requirements: A high school diploma and 4 years relevant program experience or IT services. Experience with major internet browsers including Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. Three (3) years face to face or phone customer service experience. Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Please note that the agency will require an official, certified copy of the transcript or diploma prior to hiring. DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record. This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's Community Health Services (Central Office) . The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.
