The Senior Data Center Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of high-performance computing data centers, ensuring maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices. This role requires deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technicians while optimizing performance, capacity planning, and security protocols. Responsibilities The Senior Data Center Manager will focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned. Oversee all operational aspects of our high-performance computing data centers, ensuring compliance with uptime, security, and safety standards. Manage a team of technicians responsible for infrastructure maintenance, power, cooling, and IT support. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime. Monitor critical systems, ensuring proactive maintenance and troubleshooting of issues. Collaborate with IT, network, and security teams to enhance data center reliability. Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO, SOC, and other relevant certifications. Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurement of necessary equipment. Prepare and manage operational budgets for the data center. Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategy implementation. Lead incident management and root cause analysis for service disruptions. Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 8+ years of experience managing Tier III or higher-level data centers. Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and security. Experience with industry standards such as Uptime Institute Tier Classification, ITIL, and ISO 27001. Proven experience in leading teams and optimizing operational processes. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Excellent abstract thinking, as well as analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to cater to different audiences with diverse backgrounds, from junior staff to senior leadership. Self-driven individual, with attention to detail and ability to execute high-quality work with limited direction. Ability to deal comfortably with uncertainty and limited resources or information.
