About AHC
American Home Contractors (AHC) is a solar and roofing company and an Infinity Home Services company. Our Solar Division installs Tesla solar panels and other PV systems, offers purchase and lease options, pairs systems with battery storage when needed, and services Tesla systems and other existing systems across MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, DE, and NJ. We take our time hiring because we want people who stay.

About the job
This is a field job with travel across MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, DE, and NJ about 35% to 40% of the time. You own the electrical side of our solar installs and lead the apprentices on your jobs.

Who does well here
You like this trade, and you show up because it matters to you. Our crews roll early, and you're on time. You bring your own basic electrician's hand tools and we supply the rest. You tie off every time. You drive a company vehicle like our name is on the door, because it is. You treat the homeowner's house like your own. You keep honest hours. When something goes wrong, you say so and fix it. You take coaching, you love getting better at the work, and you teach the people coming up behind you.

What you'll do
• Install and repair electrical systems for solar roofing
• Run conduit and wiring to NEC and local code
• Install breakers, inverters, Powerwalls, and other components
• Handle inspections and troubleshoot problems
• Lead and mentor apprentices and field techs
• Complete manufacturer and licensing training
• Take photos and notes in CompanyCam before you leave the job

What you need
• A journeyman electrician license. We verify every license with the state.
• One exception: you are enrolled now in an electrical apprenticeship and working toward your journeyman license, or you agree to enroll in the IEC Chesapeake 4-year apprenticeship at the next open session after you're hired (January classes, applications due December 1). Apprentices must hold a state apprentice license before doing hands-on electrical work.
• 3+ years in the electrical trade
• Working knowledge of NEC and local code
• Able to read blueprints and wiring diagrams and troubleshoot what you find
• Comfortable on roofs and in attics. You use fall protection every time.
• This role involves climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lb, and working outdoors, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Bring your own basic electrician's hand tools; we supply the rest
• Live within 85 miles of our Columbia, MD warehouse, or relocate before your start date
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our insurance carrier's standards (MVR reviewed after offer)

Nice to have
• Tesla Powerwall or Tesla solar panel experience
• Solar PV, battery storage, and battery backup experience
• Experience supervising crews

Pay and benefits
• $30 to $38 per hour, based on experience. Hourly, non-exempt, with overtime pay for hours over 40 in a week.
• Four-day work week
• Take home vehicle
• Medical, dental, and vision
• Vanguard 401(k) (eligible to join right away), with a dollar-for-dollar company match up to 4% starting after one year of service
• Accrued PTO and paid holidays
• Per diem of $110 a day on overnight trips (2026 IRS per diem guidelines)
• Manufacturer certifications and continuing education support available
• Room to grow into leading crews and training apprentices

How we hire
This is a safety-sensitive position. Every finalist does the same short hands-on skills test before we make an offer, and accommodations are available on request. After a conditional offer, we run a background check, a drug screen, and a review of your driving record (MVR). AHC participates in E-Verify.

Equal opportunity
AHC is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by law. Flexible work from home options available.
