Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Ortho Neuro position requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient orthopedic/neuro unit (3C) in a hospital setting
• 27-bed unit serving an orthopedic patient population
• Night shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Patient ratios vary: nights estimated at 1:6–1:8
• Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitoring, and lift equipment
• EMR: Epic
• Floating on a rotational basis is required
• No on-call requirements
• Weekend hours as required by the facility
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for MO licensure (compact license accepted)
• Current BLS certification from AHA
• NIHSS certification required prior to start (may be considered without, but must obtain before assignment begins)
• ACLS from AHA preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience
• Experience and competence in drug titration
• No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
• Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption required for assignments spanning November 1 – April 1 (declinations are not accepted)
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documented renewal is scheduled

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for orthopedic patients, including those post-trauma, post-surgical intervention, and with medical comorbidities
• Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
• Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, significant bending, stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance; must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. and pinch up to 15 lbs.
• High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
• Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidates must be available for the entire orientation week
• RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week
• Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for the position but are subject to a reduced bill rate
• Black scrubs required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not permitted
• Facility is a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and a Level 2 Stroke Center
• Inpatient ortho experience is preferred
