Floater Legal Assistant

A leading law firm is seeking a Floater Legal Assistant to join its Orange County office in Irvine. This role serves as a flexible resource providing administrative and substantive support to attorneys and practice teams across multiple groups on an as‑needed basis, including coverage during absences, high‑volume periods, trial preparation, and special projects. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, detail orientated, and able to manage shifting priorities while maintaining strong organisation, professionalism, and client service. Responsibilities Prepare, proofread, revise, and format legal documents including pleadings, agreements, discovery, and correspondence Assist with federal and state court filings, including use of electronic filing systems such as PACER Manage calendaring, scheduling, travel coordination, and expense processing Maintain electronic and physical files using document management systems such as iManage Support substantive legal work including document review, cite checking, factual research, and preparation of transaction binders Organise exhibits and provide trial preparation support Provide coverage across multiple practice groups and quickly adapt to varying attorney preferences and workflows Qualifications Highly adaptable with strong organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service oriented mindset Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience with document management systems and legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw preferred Familiarity with federal and state court filing systems required Must meet California paralegal requirements through a certificate, degree, or equivalent law related experience Prior law firm experience supporting multiple practice areas strongly preferred Compensation and Benefits Salary range typically $85,000 to $90,000 plus depending on experience Bonus opportunities based on individual and firm performance Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA and HSA options 401k with profit sharing Employee assistance program and wellness incentives Generous paid time off and opportunities for advancement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
