Large-Scale Construction & Infrastructure Projects

We’re seeking an experienced community affairs leader to build trusted local relationships and deliver meaningful community benefits around large-scale construction projects.

\n

\n

Working closely with company leadership, project teams and clients, you’ll develop a companywide community engagement strategy and translate it into practical, locally relevant programs. You’ll help teams understand community priorities, respond to concerns and build lasting partnerships with government officials, educators, local businesses and community organizations.

\n

\n

This role combines strategic program development with hands-on delivery. You’ll create scalable playbooks, support project teams on the ground and measure results across multiple communities, including rural and remote locations.

\n

What you’ll do

\n

\n
• Build a scalable community engagement program. Develop a consistent companywide approach, with playbooks, tools and processes that project teams can adapt to local needs.
\n
• Partner directly with clients and project leaders. Understand project owners’ priorities and work together to design, implement and manage multiyear community engagement programs.
\n
• Listen to communities and act on their needs. Use community research, stakeholder mapping and listening sessions to understand local priorities and inform engagement plans.
\n
• Address concerns early. Establish clear processes for responding to questions and grievances, including concerns about construction activity, traffic, noise and environmental impact.
\n
• Build lasting local relationships. Engage residents, elected officials, civic leaders, educators, local businesses, nonprofits and other stakeholders to support constructive, ongoing dialogue.
\n
• Connect projects with community benefits. Partner with internal teams and local organizations on initiatives such as workforce pathways, supplier and small-business participation, philanthropy and sustainability.
\n
• Integrate engagement into project planning. Collaborate with project leadership, external affairs, communications and other relevant teams so community priorities and emerging issues inform decisions.
\n
• Equip local teams to deliver. Provide guidance, coaching and on-the-ground support to project representatives implementing community programs.
\n
• Own program planning and measurement. Develop scopes, budgets and measurable performance indicators; report progress, identify lessons and improve the approach across projects.
\n
• Represent the company externally. Participate in community meetings, open houses, public forums and national organizations representing community and industry interests.

What you’ll bring

\n

\n
• 10+ years of relevant experience across community affairs, community engagement, community and economic development, public affairs or related fields.
\n
• A track record of designing and delivering community engagement programs around complex projects or major facilities.
\n
• Experience building repeatable programs, playbooks or toolkits across multiple locations while adapting to local needs.
\n
• Strong relationship-building skills, including experience working with clients, senior leaders, government officials and community representatives.
\n
• Experience gathering community feedback, resolving concerns and managing sensitive or contentious issues.
\n
• The ability to turn strategy into practical action, manage budgets and competing priorities, and demonstrate measurable results.
\n
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence representing an organization in public settings.
\n
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to guide teams across functions and locations.
\n
• Strong organization, sound judgment and reliable follow-through.
\n
• Willingness to travel and work across multiple time zones as needed.

• Construction, data centres, energy, utilities, transportation or other major infrastructure projects.
\n
• Engagement in rural or remote communities.
\n
• Workforce development, supplier diversity, small-business development or community investment programs.
\n
• Working directly with project owners, developers or operators.
\n
• Familiarity with local government processes and how community concerns can affect project delivery.
