Director, Medical Affairs, Category Lead

Our global life sciences client is seeking a highly collaborative and influential veterinarian to serve as Medical Lead for an innovative medicine category. This senior individual contributor role sits at the intersection of science, strategy, education, and commercial execution, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders to shape medical strategy, support portfolio growth, and advance outcomes for veterinary professionals and the animals they care for.

Responsibilities

\n

• Serve as the medical lead for an innovative portfolio, developing and executing medical strategies that align with business objectives while maintaining scientific integrity and customer focus.

\n

• Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Veterinary Professional Services, and global colleagues to support integrated brand planning, product strategy, and launch execution.

\n

• Translate scientific insights, customer feedback, and market trends into actionable strategies that support portfolio growth, customer engagement, and positive clinical outcomes.

\n

• Act as a trusted subject matter expert for assigned therapeutic areas and products, providing medical expertise and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders.

\n

• Review promotional, educational, and scientific materials to ensure content is accurate, balanced, compliant, and customer-relevant.

\n

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external experts, key opinion leaders, specialists, researchers, and industry influencers.

\n

• Lead or support advisory boards, speaker programs, peer-to-peer education, congress activities, and other expert engagement initiatives.

\n

• Support medical education and scientific communication activities, including presentations, publications, training, and customer-facing educational content.

\n

• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify evidence gaps, inform research priorities, contribute to study planning, and monitor progress toward key milestones.

\n

• Represent the organization at key industry meetings, conferences, and professional events, serving as a credible scientific voice in the market.

\n

Requirements

\n

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree required; active veterinary license in good standing required.

\n

• Seven or more years of combined clinical and industry experience, with exposure to Medical Affairs, Professional Services, Technical Services, Marketing, Product Development, or related functions strongly preferred.

\n

• Demonstrated ability to influence within highly matrixed, cross-functional environments and build trusted partnerships across internal and external stakeholder groups.

\n

• Strong scientific communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling, and customer-relevant messaging.

\n

• Experience engaging key opinion leaders, external experts, specialists, researchers, or industry partners; advisory board or scientific engagement experience preferred.

\n

• Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness, customer focus, sound judgment, and the ability to balance scientific rigor with business priorities.

\n

• Comfortable leading through influence as a senior individual contributor, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-impact projects.

\n

• Specialty training, residency, board certification, advanced degree, or research experience preferred but not required.

\n

• Ability to travel as needed, typically up to 25–30%, for industry conferences, professional meetings, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
