We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Manufacturing Technician to support production operations at a growing plastics manufacturing facility in Charleston. This role is responsible for operating equipment, monitoring production processes, and ensuring quality standards are met in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment used in plastic extrusion and fabrication.
• Set up machines, load raw materials, and adjust settings as needed to maintain efficiency.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure product quality meets specifications.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and escalate larger maintenance needs.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Keep work area clean and organized to support operational efficiency.
• Work closely with maintenance, quality, and leadership teams.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn extrusion or plastics processing equipment.
• Ability to read basic measurements and follow work instructions.
• Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to stand, lift (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• 1+ year of manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Plastics/extrusion or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (electrical/hydraulic a plus).
• Familiarity with PLCs, automated equipment, or PM programs is a plus.
• Ability to read schematics/blueprints.
• Experience in fast-paced, 24/7 production environments.

Work Environment

The role involves working 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights), with overtime available, in an industrial plastics facility located on the water. The environment can be hot, humid, and noisy, and PPE is required. You will engage in hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in a fast-paced, production-driven team environment focused on uptime and safety. The rotating schedule includes working 15 days out of the entire month, with a rotation between day/night shifts from 7 am to 7 pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charleston,SC.
