Make an impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in a dynamic educational environment in the Waukegan, IL area. Two contract positions are currently available, both offering the opportunity to provide essential communication access in school settings.
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval
- EIPA score of 3.0–3.4 accepted with ISBE Interim Approval
- Acceptable alternative credentials: BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC with ISBE Approval
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience in educational settings highly valued
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and supporting student success
Position Details:1st Position
- Setting: John Powers Center, Vernon Hills
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–3:00pm
- Start: As soon as possible
- End: May 28, 2027 2nd Position
- Setting: Grayslake North High School
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–12:00pm
- Start: As soon as possible
- End: May 20, 2027
General Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation between hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing students, staff, and families in classroom and school-related settings
- Facilitate understanding of lesson content and social interactions
- Adapt interpretation to meet the developmental and academic needs of students
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Collaborate with educators and support teams to ensure an accessible learning environment
