Senior Associate Scientist Process Chemistry

Pfizer seeks a synthetic organic chemist for the Process Chemistry group in Groton, CT to develop scalable, safe, and efficient synthetic routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients. The role involves laboratory experimentation on diverse chemical entities including small molecules, peptides, and lipids, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute synthetic routes to drug candidates in laboratory settings
• Develop and conduct experimental studies for safe, efficient, robust, scalable processes
• Collaborate with chemists, analysts, engineers, and technologists on multidisciplinary teams
• Maintain accurate scientific records and communicate results through written reports
• Support technology transfer to manufacturing sites and external facilities as needed

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemistry with laboratory-based research experience
• Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry experimentation and principles
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with scientific documentation ability
• Familiarity with modern analytical tools, techniques, and data interpretation
• Working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry literature
• Prior peptide and lipid synthesis experience strongly valued but not required
• U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not available

Compensation: $68,600–$114,300 base; eligible for 7.5% bonus target
