Senior Scientist Process Chemistry

Pfizer seeks a synthetic organic chemist to develop scalable pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for small molecules, peptides, and complex therapeutics. The role involves laboratory experimentation, cross-functional collaboration, and technology transfer support across discovery through commercial production stages.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable synthetic routes for drug candidates using innovative chemistry and emerging technologies
• Conduct laboratory experimentation and interpret analytical data to guide synthetic process optimization
• Collaborate with analytical, engineering, and manufacturing teams to advance routes into commercial processes
• Prepare technical documentation and support technology transfer to internal and external manufacturing facilities
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process chemistry discipline advancement

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or within 9 months of completion
• Advanced knowledge of modern synthetic methodology, asymmetric synthesis, and catalysis
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with analytical tools, computational methods, and statistical experimental design
• Experience with peptide and lipid synthesis route development and scale-up preferred
• General knowledge of pharmaceutical drug development and industry practices

Compensation: $93,600–$156,000 base
