Our organization is in search of a board-certified or board-eligible General Surgeon to enhance our expanding surgical program at a community hospital. We seek a surgeon who thrives in a busy clinical environment, is eager to establish and develop a comprehensive general surgery practice, and appreciates the chance to work in a community setting while remaining linked to the extensive resources, educational mission, and academic atmosphere of a prominent university health system.

This role is integral to our initiative to create a Division of Community General Surgery, aimed at bolstering elective and emergency surgical services across our network of community hospitals. Initially, the focus will be on the community hospital, with responsibilities including participation in acute care and emergency general surgery call, and eventually fostering a collaborative coverage model with other facilities within our health system.

• Establish and expand a thriving elective general surgery practice at the community hospital.
• Maintain a diverse operative practice encompassing both elective and emergency general surgery.
• Engage in acute care and emergency general surgery call at the community hospital level.
• Contribute to the development of an integrated community general surgery program across our health system.
• Instruct and collaborate with surgical residents and medical students in a university-affiliated hospital environment.
• Work alongside surgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other specialists throughout the organization.
• Leverage the referral network, clinical resources, and advanced capabilities of our university hospital.

The ideal candidate is a surgeon with a strong clinical focus who enjoys performing surgeries, managing a wide array of general surgical conditions, and is motivated by the prospect of growing a practice.

• Board eligibility or certification in General Surgery.
• Proficient clinical and operative skills across the spectrum of general surgery.
• Interest in both elective and emergency surgical procedures.
• Dedication to quality, safety, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
• Passion for teaching residents and medical students.
• Desire to contribute to the development of a community-based surgical program.

Fellowship training is appreciated but not mandatory.
